How It All Began This is the first print that I made in by darkroom at our duplex in Austin. The year was 1965.
The darkroom was in a storage space/hot water heater closet off the carport.
The space was so hot in the summer that I have to double-tray the chemicals so I could use ice and water to get the chemicals to the right temperature.
It was so hot that I would produce one print and then go outside to cool off. Then I would wipe the sweat off and go back on to make another print.
Over the years my darkrooms got nicer and nicer -- and cooler. But I remember that first darkroom fondly. It was a great experience -- producing my own photographs was exciting.
53 years have pasted but by my passion for photography has not deceased. In fact it has increased. I am still always looking for that next great image.
Thank you Mr. Bolding for starting me down this trail.
