One morning we had an unexpected treat. Three very small boys and their sisters were checking their fish trap and found an anaconda in the trap. It took all 3 boys to hold the snake and I noticed the head of the snake was almost the same size as one of the boys. By the way, they didn`t appear frightened which is more than I can say for some of my fellow tourists.
Our river boat was clean, spacious and one entire wall of our cabin was glass, so you always feel like you are in the jungle. The boat we were on was the M/V Zafiro, the food was well prepared, the crew was friendly and accommodating. After dinner several of them would entertain us with local music.
We were always accompanied by a certified paramedic. Our team leader, Ciro, managed to keep his 21 charges informed, together, well fed, and safe. He was flexible and a great problem solver as we found out the day we were on a motor boat and the motor died. Daniel, our naturalist, pointed out many birds and animals that we would never have seen based on his extensive knowledge and experience.
