. <==last.... 7p7076-113 ....next==> . That is enough of Lima. It time to look at the Amazon River and the people that live on its banks.
This image is of a couple of women washing cloths in the river. Each day we saw this story repeated hundreds of times.
I found all to the people on the river to be very friendly. The same could be said for the people we met in Lima. Contrary to what I have experienced in other countries neither the children nor the adults were constantly begging you for money even though it was apparent that Peru is a poor country.
The river people use the river for everything and this causes problems. Along with washing there cloths, they use the river to provide drinking water, food, transportation and a sewage system.
The Amazon outhouse is most often built on a platform extending out over the river. All come with an automatic flushing system.
Water related health issues is a big problem for people living on the river.
